Working to protect and enhance the Lickey Hills and their environs
Mytime Active is the organisation responsible for running seven golf courses within Birmingham including the Lickey Hills Golf Course. Members of the LHS committee met with Daniel at the beginning of May to discuss areas of common interest including drainage on parts of the golf course and the maintenance of trees and paths. It was a very positive meeting which we hope will be the first of many. Since the meeting, we have learned that Mytime will likely be taking responsibility for the tennis courts and the bowling green on the Lickeys which is very good news indeed. Work funded by the City has taken place on the tennis courts to improve their condition and to make them ‘fit for purpose’.
Following the attempted escape made by the duckhouses last year a new method of anchoring them had to be devised. On 4th May 2016 Ranger Dave, ably assisted by Mike and Pete from LHS plus other volunteers managed to successfully relaunch one of them. The other two will be sent out to join them soon. Well done to all involved.
Dave Beardsmore – congratulations to Dave who was recently appointed to the Ranger team based in the Country Park. Dave has been a Ranger Warden on the Lickeys for many years and his promotion is richly deserved. Dave is always supportive of the LHS and we look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead.
Vicci Guest – Vicci has been based at the Lickeys for many years and she will be well known to many of our members. Vicci has recently been appointed to a post in Sutton Park which is much closer to her home in the north of the city. We thank Vicci for all of her work on the Lickeys and wish her well in her new post in Sutton.
